The Best Care for Your Pet Begins With an Annual Exam

If your pet could talk, keeping tabs on their health would be much easier! Since they can’t tell you how they are feeling, it is important for them to visit a professional who knows what to look for once a year for a checkup.

That is exactly what an annual wellness exam is for, and it is one of our favorite types of appointments at Paw Haven.

What Happens at a Wellness Visit?

A lot more than you might think! This is a full nose-to-tail physical exam where we check your pet’s weight, teeth, eyes, ears, heart, lungs, skin, and joints. We look for the small signs that are easy to miss at home, like early dental disease or a subtle heart murmur.

Depending on your pet’s age and history, we may also recommend bloodwork or other diagnostics. For younger pets, that usually means staying current on vaccines and parasite prevention. For senior pets, it often means a closer look at organ function and joint health, since some conditions develop gradually and are much easier to manage when caught early.

The Best Time to Find a Problem Is Before It Starts

Pets, especially cats, are excellent at hiding discomfort. By the time symptoms are visible, an issue could have been brewing for a while. Routine exams give us a chance to get ahead of potential problems. By establishing this routine early, we can track their long-term health effectively.

Our team of veterinarians uses these visits to build a comprehensive picture of your pet’s health. Knowing your pet’s baseline makes it much easier to notice when something shifts, and that continuity makes a genuine difference in their care.

Vaccines: Protection That Matters

Vaccines are one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect your pet’s health. They guard against serious and sometimes fatal diseases like rabies, parvovirus, and distemper—many of which are completely preventable. Your pet’s annual wellness exam is the perfect time to ensure all vaccinations are current.

We Love Seeing Your Pets

Regular visits help your pet get comfortable with the clinic, making future appointments easier and less stressful for everyone. For us, meeting your pets when they are happy and healthy is one of the best parts of the job! It helps us get to know them, which allows us to provide better care year-round.

Come See Us!

If your pet is due for a wellness exam, now is a great time to make an appointment. We are currently offering new patient exams for $25 (normally $68), which is a great way to get established with a team you can count on.
